Psalms 86:12 says: “I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forever.”
I feel this verse is reminding us to be thankful at all times. 2020 has been a hard year, the holiday season has been very stressful. For me, I wasn’t able to see all of my family and friends as I did in previous years, my family had to miss our big family get together, we had to have a zoom call just to hear each other’s voices together.
This year has been stressful but it has taught us that nothing is promised and you must appreciate every little thing you have. I am thankful that I could still be with my immediate family on Christmas, and the family I couldn’t see was still safe. I’m even thankful that our family plans were canceled – being “stuck” in the house on Christmas bonded us closer as a family.
The Lord has a plan for everything and we cannot always understand that plan. Instead of focusing on the negatives, we must look at the world with a positive attitude and be thankful for the countless blessings we receive in the bad times. For even when things look dark, God is working and there are still many blessings on the way.
